    I don't think it's a Franklin, no fins.

  8. The fins would be on the cylinders which are not there. I don't think it is Franklin, either. Looks to be an early T-head.

Oh well I guess...we soldier on it seemed civil...but the mention of daily drivers may have been a little on the no good side.

  12. Here is some data from the AACA forum....
"The gearbox looks the same as this one, which has BOHNALITE written on it. A Google search found this was The Bohn Aluminum and Brass Corporation who made aluminium and brass specialty castings for Packard and other auto companies. Also sponsoring the Bohnalite Special which raced in the 1934 Indy 500. using Bohnalite cylinder heads and pistons," aluminum transmission.jpg

Is that a large air filter attached to the carb?

No comment on the manufacturer of the engine, but Hudson did not use the pictured carburetor.

In this day and age many a vintage vehicle has had some modern upgrades to for instance sit in a highway traffic jam...and yes it generally looks like stink but this is about the engine ID and matching block to block is still doable. Other than the few modern attachements which I am sure 31 knew its a pretty helpful pic.

That frame sitting atop said engine...Interesting kickup at rear of rails. Like to have those for a nice little 'T' body. Bucket with 'poop deck'...103" wheelbase, '37 tube axle, usual stuff...
