I found an incredible master at her craft, Karla Maxwell at MaxwellEnamelsdotcom....she restored my Dodge Brothers wings badge. It was in pretty bad shape and at 8 inches it's larger than most badges, she did a great job!!
Looks great. Thanks for the info. How many good people can there be who do that fine work? TEB Sent from my SM-N920V using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks guy's, she blew my mind, she was doing early 20th century Delahayes badges that were awesome, she definitely knows her stuff
I just phoned Karla, she is very knowledgeable and I learned a thing or two.... I look forward to meeting her and getting my badges restored by her. Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I looked around years ago to to have the 'Hydramatic' trunk emblem for my 46 Olds hard-enamelled (Cloisonne) and came across them in my search to find someone. I know that wouldn't be cheap exercise but wow, outstanding and well worth it. I was lucky enough to then come across a NOS one but might get them to redo the original emblem.
Don't mean to be a corrector, but I was put on to a guy who does high end restos today, and he says this term, Cloisonne, is incorrect. The process is called Champlev'e. http://www.maxwellenamels.com/site/...=http://www.maxwellenamels.com/FAQs.html#3017
Is that Star of David original in their logo? That 'star' is original, but it's actually two Greek deltas representing two letter 'D's forming that six-pointed star in the middle. It's similar to the Star of David, but the Dodge brothers were'nt even Jewish.
Ha, I just realised it's the same company, Maxwell's Check out the FAQ section. http://www.maxwellenamels.com/site/.../home?url=http://www.maxwellenamels.com/#3052
Hey CCJ, Haven't heard of Dulzura, CA since 1961-62. On several of our surf trips to Baja, we came back through Tecate instead of TJ. We drove right through Dulzura and Jamul on the way back to the freeways to San Diego and finally back to Long Bbeach. Wow, that is still remote. Jnaki The drive was scenic via the back roads of Baja from Ensenada to Tecate. The beer factory in Tecate was pretty reasonable. You just had to watch out for the big trucks in the narrow roads. It was always a day trip because at night it was very "shaky" on those roads.
I love it here. Last night I took my oldest out for a drive in the Valiant. He loves it when I get it sideways and we get all 4 barrels open. You just can't do that in town anymore.... I use my best judgement, don't get any ideas of me trying to endanger my kid LOL.... Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
