I can go either way...great thing is it only takes a couple hrs to switch it back if I want. No harm no foul.
Since when were the rules layed down about staying with the correct year of manufacture for parts? Man this is Hot Rodding you are supposed to change stuff around from one car to another. I really love Model A's and on mine I still have the Model A grill shell, never have been happy with that choice. I think 32 grill shell's look right at home on a Model A , and like you said "Not to hard to change"
It looked great before, it looks great after, just different. Kind of like a boob job. Actually It isn't much like a boob job, I just like saying boob. 32
Typically I would say the '32, but I really like it equally with the Model A. It's weird that I feel that way. The car is just so damn cool, it really doesn't matter one way or the other. I do like the single fog lamp though.
The '32 shell looks great. That 'one fog lamp' thing just detracts from the clean look the shell & grille provided. A '29-'29 'A' should retain the 'A' shell, as it's shorter and fits the body mass better. As a gag, I bolted a 'V-shaped snow plow blade to the Deuce horns on my tub. My bud came over from Felton, asks: "Plow? WTF???" I said I didn't have one fog lamp.
Surprising all the votes for the Model A. Would have thought more for the '32. Put me down for "A" but looks great either way.
...put the A grille back on, hang the 32 grille in your living room to enjoy. please don't paint that A.
I had a 30 Tudor once with stock grill. I never thought at the time to try a Deuce shell. Wish I had. But I like the 30 Shell as well. If you keep the A shell get rid of the Motor Meter. JMO
Tough call, I really think you have to judge it on a car-by-car basis. I think on your car, the A grille looks better. Something about the Model A with certain stock elements, still looks like something Henry designed that came off the line. That big chrome piece is so distinctive and iconic, makes me smile when I see it. I have had several A's, treated both ways. The tan one definitely looked great with the original A grille, both with hood and without: But then I got this 31 that Chris Casny built, and with the chop and everything else this car has going on, the 32 grille shell looks awesome and perfect:
I tried a 32 shell on my 31, I kinda liked it but caused some other impassable issues. Then we fit up a 34 truck shell and that that was the winner, the hood doesn't drop right on but that single issue was easy to fix
That 32 shell looks great! But the stock shell looks as good. I'd be inclined to go with the A just because the 32 is done so often, it's overdone IMO. But it does look great, no doubt about it. I don't like the asymmetry of the single fog lamp though, IMO that kills the looks.
I realize it sounded odd coming from me that I prefer the original shell but I saved this photo in my album of cars that trip my trigger and it's my favorite Model A sedan. This is another I have saved and the '32 shell looks right at home, I love them both. HRP
Believe that with a visor in place, it's an A. Though your Casny coupe proves that a rod, is a rod. And a Deuce shell then confirms it. Not an easy decision.
Danny...so cool that you like it enough to save a pic of it...cant tell how many times Ive pointed out your sedan to guys looking thru this site......luv the sedans
