I'm heading to Nashville Tn. next week. Is there any good hotrod shops or sights to see? Even some good collections to go see? www.droppedaxles.com
These are not really hot rod related but any car guy or gal would find them interesting: There is a place in the old Coca Cola bottling plant in Lebanon, TN (about 20 miles east of Nashville) called Classic Cars Southeast. It's supposed to be a museum but everything is for sale. They usually have some high quality cars there. Main focus is on muscle cars but from time to time they have some hot rods/street rods. Might not be your thing but there is an awesome foreign car museum near the airport in Nashville called the Lane Motor Museum. They have got some really cool stuff in there. Again, not hot rods but interesting to any car guy or gal. Finally there is a display of art deco era cars at the Frist Center in downtown Nashville through September. I think it's called something like The Automobile as Art or something along those lines. Beautiful high end stuff. Once in a lifetime opportunity to see such a collection assembled in one place. That's all that comes to mind at the moment. Oh, the American Pickers Nashville store is in the old Marathon Motors factory building. They have a lot of automobilia there and it's a must see when in town. Enjoy your visit!
There is Hunter's Custom Automotive at 975 Main St. They put on some sort of show at a hotel every year in Nashville or at least they used to. Check your CL while you are down there. Lots of good iron around that part of the world.
Gator, earl schieb, where are you........ the "pickers" show has a store there in the old marathon(?)motors building . small car museum. come, on guys.ya'll know more about nashvegasn than I do. but it is a great town
Jason Graham's shop is north of Nashville in Portland, TN. I went there for an open house and enjoyed the hell out of it. You might try looking him up and see if you can arrange a visit.
Check out the Lane Motor Museum. Look for the Cliff Ernst Collection (charity donation of some kind required) That's all that comes to mind in a hurry.
may not be considered hamb friendly style builders but Greening Auto is in Nashville. Very talented and nice people.
I'm in Lebanon and every time I've passed Classic Cars Southeast it hasn't been open...this Saturday, July 20th, there is Dragsalgia-4...having nostalgic drag races, pre-72 car show and swap meet over at the I-40 dragway in Crossville, TN...
Oh and if you are planning on seeing some honky tonk bands on Broadway (which I recommend!) swing by Lalay's and Robert's Western World...if you're into Rockabilly and old country, Friday and Saturday at Robert's is a band called Brazilbilly and pick yourself up a recession special (fried balogna sandwhich and a PBR for $5)...good times guaranteed...
I know they played there last weekend...I thought they played every other Friday? Hmmm...guess I'll know where we'll be lol...
There are cruise ins all around Nashville. Hendersonville (north of Nashville), mt juiet ( east of Nashville ) on Friday nights. Goodlettsville (north) sat night. I know Murfreesboro has one just don't know which night. The ones that were said, Lane motor museum is in Nashville on Murfreesboro rd. Jason grahams is a cool stop in Portland (ALMOST in ky, 45ish mins north)
Check out the web sites. Nashville car shows & memory lane cruisers. They will have all of the local events, shows, cruz-ins ETC...
The best hot rod shop in the Nashville area is Greening Automotive. Jeff and Jesse Greening real talented and nice guys. Gary
I'll check as many of those places out I can. I love Rockabilly. We are just now getting close to Memphis. We will be in Nashville Wed.
The cruise-in at Mt. Juliet is on Sat. nite at the Chick fil a restaurant in Providence shopping center. Usually a good crowd but mostly muscle cars. There is a cruise in on Fri. nite in Murfreesboro at a shopping center on Medical Center Pkwy.
Check out the Lane Motor Museum while in Nashville. www.lanemotormuseum.org I took the family (wife and 2 teen daughters) to Nashville for vacation a couple of years ago we all had a great time. PM me if you would like some other cool OT things to see and do while in that area. Chappy
