I drove my '40 pickup for the first time today after a 4 year build. I drove it out of the driveway down the road and made a U turn to come back.
As I tried to back it up, there was no reverse. It's a new (rebuilt) 700R4 with a Lokar shifter. Do you think it could be a shifter adjustment? I can feel it go into every gear smoothly but when in reverse, nothing happens.
The damn tranny also leaks. The level was full when I drove it.
    Any suggestions?

  2. Full how?
Always best to have the level just under the max hot line
    Where’s it leaking from?
Best to put it on stands and manually shift the tranny ( right off the trans) into its respected gears see what happens
If your lucky it’s just an adjustment

Full by the dipstick hatch marks. Not sure where it's leaking from. It finds a path somehow. I have a catch pan under it.
This week, I will get it raised up and see if I can shirt it manually without the shifter.
It's getting harder and harder to lay on my back and finagle with things.
    Thanks
