Los Angeles around the Knob Hill (correction, Bunker Hill) area, south of city hall.
2 roadsters the first @ 1:30 is fenderless with folks in the rumble seat and the second a light colored 30/31 roadster with fenders and www @ 2:57.

Looks kinda like San Francisco, but no trolley cars in sight. The businesses on the hilly streets "Parking" look like you'd park on a 20 degree list!
...Like in my old city by the bay! I loved/hated it there...
Couldn't wait to motor outa there on my '40 Rigid framed, pan-headed, extended/raked springered, 21" laced, Avon Speedmastered, Bates tank and seated Harley. (drag bars, no 'ape hangers'...)
    Looks different from a '27 T...

Great old film, thought I saw the L.A. city hall near the beginning.
The full fendered roadster looked like a 1st class finished rod/

  17. San Fran.....only saw 1 hot rod...a 30s ford roadster with 39 taillights. I also saw a 40s ford sedan with skirts...and it looked like a rear view my old 48 Pontiac close to the end

I'm betting San Fran as well due to hills and vegetation. Plus th Early hippie music! By the way what is the name of the track and the group?
All kidding aside this is an extremely rare print of the original Bullit that did not get widely shown due to no fast chase scenes or gun violence.

The area in question is Bunker Hill that was nearing redevelopment about the time this film was shot. Blocks of Victorian style bungalows as well as some substantial mansions, almost all of them razed in the name of progress. The air quality -- read "SMOG" -- was typical for the time and better than some days. (Standard wisecrack of the day "On a clear day you can see City Hall.")

Actually there is a roadster right beside the highboy when it goes by with a die-cast license frame with what may be custom lights in the lower trunk panel...

Easy to see why parallel parking was required on your driving test back in the day.
    Neat film.
Wonder why it was originally filmed/

I think you were first to nail all 3 ...you win the lead bicycle with the cement tires....
actually the band is o/t (90's) but their style is neo-psych so pretty fitting for '65 cut -off;)
Thanks for the freeze frames! isn't it neet to know those two rods are pre-1950?!
It's the Brian Jonestown Massacre '90's neo-psych definitely a cool band I liked back in the day and when I saw they had this cool footage on their video I thought far out but when I saw the 2 '40's Hot Rods I nearly flipped my lid Daddio

I always feel the pictures from all over the the countries where North American Hotrod/Speed/Custom touched accompanied with the stories helps paint a picture of what actually happened...and you know...pics or it didn't happen...movies/film even better

@Nailhead A-V8 it is the same building...you are correct...Holy round the block Batman...

Yeah the dudes in the fenderless cabriolet were on their way to the club meeting where the fendered car is parked...or they were circling the block waiting for the other guy to come out so they can challenge him to a race lol
