Looked at a '32 Ford roadster pickup body today that had a 12 digit number with a star on each end. It waas not star 18.
It was on the crossmember that the rear of the kickboard rests on. Brookville told me that they put no numbers on their bodies. Brand new body from a dealer.
    Anyone else seen this?

  4. Other people besides Brookville assemble bodies. Maybe one of them puts numbers?

Brookville did stamp bodies they assembled in house.

    Star
position numbers 1-6, 2 digit month, day, year assembled
position numbers 7-10, sequential body serial number by body style
position numbers 11-12, 2 letter code designating body style
    Star

Partial bodies or complete knock-down bodies were not stamped

Well it may be a "new" body that has been sitting on the shelf for a while. It may be that they stopped stamping numbers on inhouse assembled bodies at some time. If you wrote the number down by following what Old tin and New tin wrote in post 5 should make sense or there is the off chance it was indeed assembled by a third party who stamped their own number on it.

If you are interested in a Brookville '32 Roadster pickup project, I know of one for sale. HAMB friendly rebuilt 265 SBC. 39 trans. original firewall and frame, lots of parts.
