As a kid my dad liked "77 Sunset Strip" so that's what we watched. I didn't care anything about the detectives but sure liked "Kool Kookie" and his hot rod. Several years ago I got interested in '50s TV reruns after seeing Perry Mason and tried to find 77 Sunset Strip but it was not offered at the time. But now it's on and of course I watch it. The problem is the only "Kookie Car" I remember was the Grabowski T-Bucket but in the episodes I have been watching he is driving a Model A 2-door Phaeton hot rod. I just don't remember seeing it on TV in the '50s or in any magazine coverage. Who owned it and does it still exist?
I watched it pretty religiously as a kid, for the same reasons you did. Only rod I remember Kookie wheeling was Norm's.
I will try that. It is really a nice looking car. Full fendered with full hood and the top always down. It certainly has a V-8 but so far no shots under the hood.
They are running the episodes in chronological order. 1960 is the copyright date they were running when the series reruns started and now up to 1961. He is working for the agency, no longer a valet parker. But he is still combing his hair a lot and using hippy slang. Really brings back memories of a different time.
As I recall, the "Hot Rod" did not appear in any episodes after 1960. I recently saw Norm in his T in an opening sequence of Peter Gunn.
