I always call them on it. When they want a contact phone number to meet up, I'll give them the P.D. number.
If my number is not in the ad and I get a reply like yours asking for me to text back I never do it. It could be identity thieves gathering info on you from all the different internet sources.
Gees, man. My response would have been, "Wrong number." and that would have been it. I wouldn't have responded to any further text. Why spend your time screwing with these jerks?
the IRS and others when they call...i say....Franks Morgue..you kill em we chill em...I laugh my ass off...
I do this too. when they ask for my address I give them police office address too. The dirty bastards
I got a private message here on hamb a couple days ago. REB CHRISTIAN is his name here on hamb. He just joined on Friday. He responded to my wanted add here for a Gennie Shifter. He knows someone who has one, gave me his email. I emailed the person.... he wants to ship via walmart...... I never heard of this, I told him that. I told him I've shipped though Fastenal but never walmart. He replies "Yes I also do Fastenal". I told him He sounds too much like a scammer and I wasn't interested. I also reported here Reb's information. Crazy world!
The 'Wanted' section is treacherous ground, there should be a way to screen scammers. Like a 100 post minimum before anybody can read posts in the 'Wanted' section, something that scammers can't satisfy.
I have absolutely no idea why anyone would call a scammer back. You give the to much information-you make yourself easy to track. Life is short so why waste your time? What have you accomplished?
I miss a lot of calls because I'm busy and out a lot. Caller I.D. tells me what #'s I missed. I get 5 to 10 junk / scam / unsolicited calls almost every weekday and less, but some, on weekends. A number I don't know? I answer the phone and hang it up in one fluid motion. The receiver makes it about an inch off of the phone before reversing direction. If it's a real call, they have to call back several times before I'll answer it. Out of curiosity (to see if some of the same #'s will stop appearing) I'm going to start experimenting with a very loud duck call I now have hanging by the phone.
I got the same PM from the same guy I wanted a 34 roadster dash said his friend had one. I looked at his profile and decided he was a scammer.
Unless I'm busy I like to do the old Cheech and Chong routine. " Hi, this is Dave and I'm calling about..." DAVE??, DAVES NOT HERE. and see how long it takes befor they catch on. Some are dumber than dirt.
Hard to tell if that dude was a scammer or just a guy looking for a set of wheels who got the wrong number, I'm betting on the second and probably feels someone tried to scam him.
