Hot Rods How often do you drive your hot rod?

About 7000 - 8000 miles a year.

 

I try to drive my 40 every day when no snow or rain. We have had a rough winter by Mississippi standards (I know nothing like some you have). I drove my car today (after the rain) for the 11th time this month and drove 14 times in January. YES , I am keeping up with the days. I am retired so I don't really go anywhere like work , just errands and coffee , parts etc. Just what I bought it for !! Later Bill

 

I have been driving my old beater coupe at least twice a week in good weather (any thing above 40 degrees) and two or three times a month in winter conditions. Now that I retired at the end of last year and my new Y Brock coupe will be on the road soon I expect that to change to daily! It was 79 degrees in Knoxville today and when I stopped by my favorite local hot rod shop it appeared to be drive your hot rod to work day. Every f'kin day. And it's gettin' old. (not the drivin', the truck!) So am I.

 

I work from home, so don’t do much driving. And I’m in northern Illinois, so Nov to Apr not taking the Chevy out at all. Apr to Nov, a few times a week, whenever there’s somewhere to go.

Drove the Zipper through Thanksgiving. Try to drive each car at least twice a week. Winter is a PIA.

 

these are my 3 and i drive one or the other everyday.....for the past 4 months i have been putting a 1000 k's a week on the light blue pick up coz it's the cheapest to run being on lpg
the other darker pickup is actually finished (old pic) but shares a lot of road time along with the vicky

A few times a week...to work, cruises, photo ops, scenic rides...once Spring has arrived and salty brine is gone and generally relatively local. Once the good weather is here I also have to eyeball the forecast for rain as carbs full of water and water leaking into the cabin are things I want to avoid so I call the Ole Hotrod a fairweather ride.

Left the original finish but its got a nice chassis with small block/700R4/3:42 10 bolt and a/c.
She really likes driving it.
The dogs like it too.

 

Every damn day.
400+ miles a week.
The Galaxie has been my only running vehicle since November 16th. I can fit a 17’ Little Giant ladder and all my needed tools in the trunk.
Breaks in the evening, no supper til fixed.
Breaks in the morning, no work til fixed.
If there is snow then I keep up my momentum!

I shoot for 5,000-10,000 miles a year. If I can hit that mark I'm pretty happy. Sometimes it's in 3-4 long trips, sometimes it's from driving the car daily. Recently I haven't had the shop space to park my cars and customer cars, so getting back my space is pretty motivating.

 

I drive one of my hobby cars in season 4/5 days per week, for me driving them is the fun of having them. Season usually starts April through October. In Spring have to wait for rain to clean salt off, same in Fall as they have salt trucks ready to go and at first freezing rain, salt on. Here in Northern Wisconsin it appears to be Salt on at every opportunity and yet every Fall many/many accidents as people's driving skills have dumb down to idiot level, too complex to slow down, stop tailgating and pull lever down for left, up for right, red stop, green go. It's official, I'm an Old Fart, (Crab Ass) the way people drive today is ridiculously stupid, caused to give up my motorcycle 8 years ago, rode 1974-2010, many attempts of trying to kill me from idiot drivers, cell phones are the most dangerous convenience invented IMO.

 

Try and drive my coupe and other cars as much as possible. In the summer I will drive to work occasionally but not if rain as there is no top on my car right now. Drive it almost every day I have off. In the winter around here you can get a day or two when there is no snow and salt all over the roads and the temp gets into the 50’s. Been considering using the ‘31 sedan I just picked up as a daily.

I always liked this picture as it’s such a contradiction between the super high tech job and driving to it in an antique.

Two to three times a week. Still working out some bugs as car has maybe 50-60 miles on it. It’s all about the “feel” when I’m in it. Hope to increase the ‘40’s drive time soon.

 

i come from the land of pot holes.

 

Looks like the sedan is going to be my daily for a while.my soninlaw wrecked his truck so Brenda let or daughter that works at the shop have her van until they get the truck repaired,Brenda confiscated my pickup.

As long as these 75 degree plus days keep on it will be nice.HRP

 

I ROLL A LOT HERE IN SUNNY SOUTH LOUISIANA

 

Since my car is not finished......But the plan is to sell off my current car when the 32 is ready and it will become my daily. I’ve spent too much time, $$$ and stress over the years for it to gather dust in the garage.

Not much lately.

 

Not nearly enough. Northern Indiana winters are brutal.

 

Apparently, once every 10-11 years. I'll let you know when it's driveable.

 

Not much lately as there has been too much crap on the roads. Don't want to start rusting them out now seeing as how they have survived this long. My Hudson gets driven the most in better weather. For now it's the '85 "vette", Chevette that is.

 

I drive the truck pretty much daily , unless there is something special going on and I need to use the mercedes ( 1976 300D )

 

I drive my ‘40 pretty much every day.

 

I've been averaging about 5K a year since I finished it in 2009, currently shows 47K on the Odometer .
