I always enjoy watching a craftsman at work and this thread shows one of the finest. I have a question since some of this is kind of new to me, what exactly did cutting the cowl accomplish, was it stress relieving it from laying back the A pillars?

If you cut the middle out of a tapered angled pillar the roof does not line up at the a pillar while the b and c pillar line up . So the cowl is split to lay back the a pillars .

Flop... does the upper hinge have to change in order to open inline with the lower hinge after you move the A pillar?

 

Here's the answer from earlier in the thread........

 

yea it didn't answer my question, that was why I asked again.

 

Chad, the simple answer is yes. Any time you tilt the top hinge, you need to bend it back inline with the bottom to prevent binding. Using long rod in the pin holes can prove it is in alignment.

 

Didn’t bend a thing . Zero bind .
