Anyone have pictures or any info of a old drag car 33 three window ford coupe that was called the ''Jitterbug'' The car was purple, and it ran in southern California in the 1950's(???) thanks
It looks to me like it could be a repaint of either the SoCal or Pierson brothers coupes..... Or it's the "missing" super cool, super wacked track nosed 33 3window!
Hey Cody, saw this post this morning at 5am, but didn't respond. Love the Jitterbug! I was also wondering why you are looking? I see your avatar looks pretty close, recreation, or just influenced? Either way, I dig! I came in to research something in my photo files, and I came across this pic by accident. Not sure if you have it? But there she was... Love more info on what you are up too... I dig this stuff. I also have a 34 three window with a custom nose, not finished yet.
Thats Harry Duncans Jitterbug 34 coupe. Fast car won lots of records. He bought it from the spaghetti benders. Its purple and white ( hard to tell from the black and whites) Know anything about where it is currently?
2 Different cars! This is NOT the Duncan competition coupe AKA chrisman coupe. This is one of the many cars my great grandpa Harry had. Check out my photo albums for pictures of both coupes. Sometimes I can't decide which id rather have.
Can't blame you for the mix up 2 similar coupes both owned by my great grandpa Harry. He painted almost all of his cars in that purple color scheme. I actually think its rather ahead of your time to have a funky purple hot rod in the mid 1950s. I have more photos of both cars in my albums check them out! Ill be posting more when I get a chance. And for the record Art may have lost track of it but it was still tearing up all the Cali drag strips and smoking the competition.
Here goes nothing! Last one is a scan of an old Drag News article Article about Harry Duncan's 29 roadster racing against his own car for fastest car of day. Both set class records that day before racing each other WIN WIN SITUATION! Hard to read I know The Roadster went 122.95 The Jitterbug went 125.87 Look at the other speeds compared to these! LOL
