Motion Pictures Tracked T

    watching the movie "Inferno" with Robert Ryan. He is rescued by a prospector with cut up T that has what looks like canvas belts set up as tracks to drive through the desert. It's pretty close to the end. Looked home made.

    I had to chuckle at the 3D scene when the lantern got thrown. It looked like the lantern was being pulled along a cable and bounced up and down a bit. The movie was one of the first attempts at 3D or so they said before it started. I noticed after the scene with the tracks on the car that they had been removed when they were headed into town. I guess that wheel up front was just an idler for the track to revolve around. Pretty cool setup for an old prospector!

    Doesn’t look to me like that’d work. Only going to the back wheel like that, it’s not spreading the load over a bigger area.

    ^^^^ it was probably more "show" than "go".....Hollywood in the 50s stuff...

    Yep, Hollywood. A turn at any kind of speed, and that belt's liable to come off & slap you up side the head!
