Well, unless you are planning a serious week or two's worth of road trip your Texas experience will be within what ever hours you have around Houston. Figuring it's about 165 miles to Austin or 180 something to San Antonio.

I was kidding about Amarillo, (cold and windy) but Austin and San Antonio should be on your itinerary, even if you can't find some car stuff to do. But I bet the Austin Speed Shop (among others) would give you a few minutes.

  10. Dates ? The Texas Thaw drags are in Denton around the first of Feb - just a little far North....but...the Decatur swap meet is right next door about the same time....hell...fly into Dallas next month !

Just checked, it's 598.9 miles from Houston to Amarillo. that is still a couple hundred short of the distances between some cities in Texas.
A day or to in Austin jaunt down 35 to San Antonio and poke around a bit and spend a night somewhere between and back to Houston would be in the cards for me if I went though.

  12. San Antonio nice....Austin has some rod shops and sites as well....

Texan's is all I saw when I went to Houston some years back for a diesel school. Oh, I did get a trip to the bull shit museum . It covered most of the city limits.

We don't hide "crazy" in Texas, we parade it around and buy it a cold beer...

Get a burger and fries from a moms and pops hole in the wall joint.

The type when you walk in everyone stops talking. Ask me how I know. One of the best Hamburger I've ever had though.
