Is there anyway to attach hubcaps that fit a 40 ford wheel with the nubs pointing inward to a 50 ford wheel that has the outward nubs? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Depends on the diameter of the 'recess' in the wheel compared to the hub cap flange diameter. If, by chance, the hubcap fits into that recess, it is possible to create 'nubs' in the area where they are needed. However, I think that is a long shot. You can buy wheels with both the correct bolt pattern and the early Ford wheel center and nubs from most aftermarket hot rod wheel suppliers. Ray
Don’t really want to buy new rims. I have 16” now but can get a killer deal on 2 15s with tires Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Late 40'sthru 56 Mopar 15 inch rims are the same bolt pattern as the 50 Ford and have inside clips to hold the hubcaps. Don't know the size of the mountings but you might check them out.
Well I have 16” 40 ford wheels with 600x16 tires now on front and 750x16 on rear. Fronts need replaced. A friend has a pair of 50 ford rims (15”) with almost brand new Coker radial w/ w for cheep. But would like to have 4 matching caps Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The 50 Ford wheel isn't going to bolt on your 40 hubs as the bolt pattern is different. 40 is 5 on 5-1/2 while the 50 is 5 on 4-1/2.
You might be right. Haven’t saw them yet. Just going by what he told me. If they aren’t 5 1/2. No good to me. Will see them tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Well they are 4/12. No good to me. Thanks for the responses. Merry Christmas! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Early 60's Ford pickups used the 40 Ford center in a 15" wheel. That's what I run on my 40 Sedan with stock 40 caps. Dave
