so i got me a stock 30 year old restoration 1929 model A roadster and interested in period ideas for hop up of it. dont give me the drop a hemi in it idea. im interested in improved carburation maybe a head change maybe a two speed rear end or an overdrive
Purchase the brand new book from Vern Tardel, available at The Rodder's journal website. All about hopping up an older restored Model A.
First make sure everything is good to go. Drive it as is for a bit. Help you decide what you think it needs. I had my roadster stock for two summers then tore into it. There are lots of things to do for a hop up of the banger motor. Head, cam, down draft carb, header, dizzy, trans...etc. Have fun!
Really a great looking Model A. Drive it like it is until you decide which way to go. Enjoy your new toy!
Change the head for a higher compression unit and install a two speed rear end if you can afford to do both.
It sure is clean. I agree with the guys who say drive if for a bit, if you can tear yourself away from that TR4 (250?) and the Barracuda in the background.
Change the color. I guessing someone couldn't pass up the half price paint cans at the paint store near the mixing station.
