I want to demonstrate how to bench bleed a master cylinder to the students. I hate using brake fluid for this as it's messy, expensive, etc. Can I use something like rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol to do this? This would be a master being used for demonstration and not to be actually used. If I had a car that was ready for a master swap we would just do it as normal but that is not the case.
    Any thoughts, ideas? Thanks-

All the Gamers [on computer simulators] use cooking oil in their hydraulic brake servos

I would try water. Cheap, easy, non toxic. And it's soluble in brake fluid.

Most racing bicycle hydraulic systems (yes, hydraulic brakes have arrived on bicycles) use a mineral oil. Cooking oil such as olive oil will do and clean up is easy. Plus it will leave your skin baby-soft and squeezable.

Would the pink RV antifreeze work? Non toxic, cheap and easy to clean up. (Propylene glycol).

Any liquid will work since there is no heat or cold involved. Water is the most benign and can be colored if necessary.

Oils may be hard to clean out and expand when heated.
