Hello. Looking for info/advice on this winter's project. Removing the sbc and replacing it with a 312 y block out of a 57 t bird with the fordamatic. First question is about what radiator to use. Any info will be greatly appreciated.[IMG][IMG]

Fabian Valdez (Vintage Hammer Garage) built this 34. The motor was mounted to a World Class T5 trani out of a 5.0 Mustang (87 to 93). The radiator was sectioned and so was the 34 grill. He did a very good job on that aspect of the car.

I know it's ez because you have it but I'd change the trans to something more modern. A C4 is one of the ezest by using a Mummert adapter which replaces the bellhousing with his instead of an adapter plate. It's also the least expensive. I'm changing my Ford0Matic for a 62 Cruise0Matic which give me 3speeds all the time and an aluminum bellhousing instead of the cast iron.
Glad to see a Ford in a Ford and a Y to boot..good luck

  5. I have a '30 tudor with a Y block and a Ford-o-matic.... My winter project is swapping that Ford-o for a three speed. I just could not get the Ford-o to shift right. The "kick down" linkage is not really a kick down linkage, it is a throttle valve linkage and with non stock linkage going to the gas pedal I could not get it adjusted right. I don't know if the geometry is wrong but I gave up . A manual will be more fun any way. At least look for a Cruise-o-matic if you want a early Ford automatic. I wish you were closer, you could have all of my old parts.

Just be advised you will have to scoot your firewall back for that engine. Good luck. Nice 33.

The Fordomatic is a three speed. "L" is first only, "D" starts in second and shifts to third.

IMG_0138.JPG Daves'32insocal. You should be ashamed for posting such raw Y block porn on here.
hopefully this beauty will be in full view in its intended home.

Have sold [4 or 5] '35-'36 ford truck firewalls as they look like and fit in '33-'34 cars but give about 4" more engine room... '37 to '39 trucks had a built in battery box... pic.

I' m just restoring the 34 Guy posted in post #3, Fabian did do a great job adapting this 312 to a T5 trans, but the frame is a 32 so the wheelbase is even shorter . I bet Fabian was quite busy shoehorning that big lump of Iron into this small car.... Good to see a Y in another 33/34 Ford!
