Is it possible to retain the mechanical brakes on a 35 Ford and lower both front and rear?
Dropped axle up front, rearced spring and shackles in rear.

    What problems can I expect?
    What needs to be done?

    Thx

Why do you want to keep the mechanical brakes? 39-46 juice brakes bolt on. Mechanical brakes are all about leverage to have them work right. You can’t have bends in the rods. And any angle between the rods and the ground could change the leverage and make them less effective

I would think that the mech brakes will work just as well as a 4" drop is well with in the stock suspension travel range..If you use longer shackles in the rear you should put a panhard bar on to keep sway at bay.. ...

Reverse eye springs are probably your best option. The mechanical brakes in the front are integrated into the king pins . A dropped axle would be a challenge to relocate the brake cross shafts up front and not compromise the geometry and safety

  6. I've had our 36 Ford over 30 years or so. Still has mechanical brakes. Screwed with them many times and still they are pretty lame. Car is stock height. If I do anything to the suspension, I'd do juice brakes first.......

Ya got pics of your car??

Thanks. I used the MP Bendix type brakes on my 37, just checking options and ideas if I land another car...
