Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Kustom perfection ...

 

When I first saw this car, I thought it was the Doug Thompsen built Chevy re-done, with the formed body line sweeping downward from the front wheel opening and the Caddy tail light fins. But I was wrong. I think this was a Pontiac. Took these shots at Des Moines GG somewhere in the 2000's

 

Also had a center peak running the length of the car.

 

I thought this Chevy had some neat touches. If I remember right, the grill is two accessory grill guards, one turned upside down. I think possibly 49-52 Chevy guards, '53 Chevy parking lights and 3 floating Pontiac Stars. Running a sweet sounding GMC 6 cylinder with multi-carbs.

 

And this nicely chopped Chevy sedan. The Merc grill shell and the shorted '55 Desoto grill could almost fool you when looking directly at the front. Is it a mid-century Merc? The Chevy quarters give it away. This Chevy had a nicely detailed 6 banger under the hood. I've never seen the car again.

Thanks Loudbang, Maybe I'm on a roll .... OR I had a roll, or ten ... with my leftover turkey from Thanksgiving. As others have said, Thanks to Mick for starting a phenomenal thread. No need to get the Kustom Blues when we can all check here everyday. I pledged a while back to go thru my shoeboxes full of photo prints and scan anything remotely kustom. I haven't done it for a while, so maybe went overboard a bit. Someday I'll figure out how to put more than one full size pic in a post.

Rudestude, Yeah, close ... but that Chevy is so much cleaner. The Pontiac is also cool, but has a busy look to the front, in my opinion. Thanks for digging up the CR shot. Notice the name of the owners. Wehr's. I didn't know that. How 'bout Jim @stanlow69

 

Here's a couple of the Chevy taken up on the hill at Des Moines. Lots and lots of work on this car. Not everybody gets it right when they do so much, but all the modifications work together on this ride.

That's a new one on me, Bill. I knew the Wehr's had a lot of customs over the years, but I always thought they were Mercurys. Neat find @rudestude! E
