Technical Monster Transmission. Another transmission builder you can cross off the list.

    Read the reviews. Believe them.

My cousin ordered a transmission from them, for me to install, to save me the trouble of sourcing and buying the parts, and building it myself, on account that he knows that I am a busy man.

I wish that I had paid attention to what he was doing, but I did not. That is on me. He's a tech guy, not a car guy. I'm both.

I will save you all of the abjectly unacceptable customer service behavior, and reduce it to the down and dirty:

    1. Four weeks to build.
    2. One week to ship.
    3. They managed to build the transmission to the incorrect specification (4L60E 300mm converter/LS spec delivered, instead of 298mm converter GenI/II spec), despite the vehicle having only ever come in one configuration, and still is that way (and they know that).
    4. Notified them of their mistake, and was told that it would be taken care of immediately.
    5. Eight days after that, they have not done anything, are still discussing how they are going to fix the problem.
    6. Just got told that since they are busy, it will be 2 to 2-1/2 weeks before they can get to the replacement build, and then another week to ship it.
    7. I asked them what the total labor time was to pull a core, dismantle it, clean it, built, and test it, paperwork aside, manpower and schedule aside. The tech said that it was inside of two business days.
    8. I told them that they have until November 29 (three business days) to photograph a truck manifest showing that the transmission has been picked up, or the deal is over. I think that is beyond generous.

I routinely work for a multi-hundred-billion-dollar global corporations. When a mistake has been made, or there is a service outage facing the customer, it becomes an “all hands” exercise, until the deficiency is corrected.

If I uttered the words akin to “we have a lot of other orders to fill before...” I would be terminated before I finished that sentence, and would likely be blackballed from the industry.

If anyone on my team did that, I would have security escort them to the property line.

Is their work any good? No idea. Not sure we are ever going to get to the point where we are going to find out.

In the period of time that has transpired, I could have ordered the exact parts that they use, and rebuilt the transmission that we have on-hand, installed it, and driven back-and-forth across the country, slowly, seeing all the sights, twice. That is, if I had the time.

At least Mac's sent me a written apology when they failed. All I am getting is excuses from these jokers.

But how do you *really* feel gimpy?:D

I'm dealing with a similar, work-related issue at the moment, and it has gotten to the point of "so sad it is funny". I'll be mad about it again in a few days I'm sure.

    Thanks for the warning.:)

  5. In this day and age of internet and social media business’ have to be on their toes.

I’m in the Forklift heavy equipment field and my boss felt we needed a “ price conscious” Forklift to sell along the “high end “ and used stuff we already pandered.
We chose the Heli brand out of China, and for a Chinese unit it’s well built. But unknown in North America. The sales team has sold the shit out of these things! And as per muni boss “ if a Heli goes down we collectively do whatever it takes to get it up and running THAT DAY ! Yank parts off a new unit in the shop , reroute parts get the customer a loaner WHATEVER IS REQUIRED TO TO KEEP THE HELI NAME GOOD!

And that’s what we do. Your not staying in business long if you drag your feet when there’s a problem. If anything it’s the time a company steps up and shows what they can do to make the problem right.you can always save face and make a problem right if you step up and fix it

  6. Gotta wonder what the hell the future holds because it's not looking like its getting any better. I'm running into the same thing more often and its really killing me some days. The problem I'm being told is that they experience the same thing on their end and since shit rolls down hill to the end user -well there we are. If we aren't the end user were pretty close.

Kinda like the airlines when they overbook and then drag you off the plane by your ankles.
    Yup, great customer service!

I called them. They say they have a 7-day turnaround.

The later ones, and LS stuff got a different length input shaft, that is also larger in diameter. The torque converter is also not only bigger in diameter, but has a different depth, requiring a different stator support, and has different lock up splines.

If I had time, bench space, and a handful of parts, I could convert one, to the other.
