Does any body make the proper head gaskets for the bore size on a 283 instead of the generic 4" bore ones. Thanks, Gary
Have you checked with Egge in Santa Fe Springs, CA? Sent from my SM-J700T1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
On that "auction site", see if you can find some steel shim head gaskets for a 267/305 engine; sometimes the marine outlets will also have them. Then there's Chevrolet Performance Gaskets #10105117 in a 4 inch bore; might be a little big, but better than the universal 4.10 gaskets that are even bigger, and that's what most outlets will try and sell you. And finally, SCE Gaskets for a less than 4 inch bore steel shim gasket that's .015 thick! They may be more $$$ than you're willing to spend, but they WILL have them (on the LAST of 4 pages of SBC head gaskets for $34.00 each). I have several sets of steel shim head gaskets I've bought when I come across them; the Stock and Super Stock racers have pretty much cornered the market, but sometimes you can find them before they do. If NONE of that pans out, I MAY be persuaded to part with a set. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
One of many --- > http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6436830&jsn=3 I'd dig around and find SOME part numbers CROSS them over and re-search for them in rock auto.
OR here better maybe----> http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...e,cylinder+head+gasket+/+head+gasket+set,5412
I got my last set from summit racing, they were felpros. Call the number to get oddball parts they won't be in the catalog.
I have a set of 283 bore specific steel shim gaskets .015 - I think I got them from SCE......I will sell them if you need them PM me......you have to be careful of using 305 gaskets as most wont clear if there is an overbore....
