With the prices that Caddy speed equipment sells for, why doesn't anyone either repro some parts, or design some new parts? Especially intakes. Is there just not enough demand?

Low demand I think. U-Fab kits are available on eBay.

Offy swears they are bringing back the 331-390 Tripower intake. I have been patiently waiting.

I think it will be next year, after spring... they need to sell 100+ to re-coup tooling money. The old patterns are long gone.

Question for @c322348, did you end up using the BBC rods? I have been on the phone with Ross and Scat. Trying to see what machine work you had to do to use the aftermarket rods. Ross suggested going from a 6.5” rod to a BBC 7.1” rod.

Yes, they needed to be rebushed to SBC pin size and narrowed at the big end. There are narrow BBC rod bearings available and we had to chamfer further to accommodate the radius on the crank journal. The crankpin needs to also be ground to match the BBC diameter.

I just got off the phone with the tech guy at Scat. He found a rod that may work. It’s the same rod journal size and just .150” longer than stock. It’s an off the shelf rod for a 455 Pontiac. I am having custom pistons built anyway, so this should work.

I need to measure the rod width on the Caddy when I get home.

So, I measured my Cadillac rod width at the cap and it was roughly .8775". I got different measurements from different rods. I believe the Pontiac was .9950". I may have to have them narrowed a bit, but that seems really close. Roughly .117".

Going on my 57 365. Full vintage isky roller motor opened up to a 388. This one will go in the 28 Model A. Word is that it came out of an old race boat. The mill was built by a fuel altered racer. I just got rid of all of the repop stuff and added vintage speed. Been collecting cad parts for years.

    Mark,

What dampener is on the cad in this picture? It’s not the stock steel one, and I’ve been looking for which aftermarket (or other) dampener will fit.

    Thanks....
The 55 dampener is thin and tapered so I assumed the early ones would look similar

I'd LOVE to get a supercharger intake for my 331.

I’m not sure when the tooling will be complete. I talked to Tony awhile back, and he said the intakes were in the works. He didn’t say when they’d be available tho. Give him a call at Ross Racing

EDA5EA76-98AC-414C-A571-F652F96180CC.png I was bidding on this, but I didn’t really feel it, so I let it go. So, there was one produced.

It wasn’t a mass produced unit. It was marketed for the sports car crowd. It went for $255. I figured it would go a lot higher. I bailed because I wasn’t willing to pay much. I really want an Offy 3x2, so this was just a conversation piece for me.
