Grill looks more like a '33 to me, but I'm no expert. Is that an illusion or is that thing chopped?

  4. Great grandpa looks chopped too, so I'm guessing it's an illusion.

Thanks guys for letting me know what year & make the car is. I was stumped. No Jim it's an illusion. The running boards look like they are hitting him at the knees. HJ that is a nice example of a gem of a 34 vs. a Kansas dirt road POS 34... But still wish I had it no matter what shape it's in!!
    Thanks to you too Dudley!!

  7. Bumper has some big ass over riders, and headlights don't look original, so someone has added stuff to that car. 34 Ford's are not cheap, so it's a shame your Grandpa didn't keep it. It's cool you have the photo.

Unless those BIG bumper guards were put on to stave off another accident, the curve at the bottom of the grille says '33 to me as well. Looks like the headlights were aligned for some 'coon huntin'.:D

  11. The grille emblem says 34 as the 33 didn't have the triangular base.
    Very cool pic. JW

  13. The car was a "Standard" due to single horn. The headlights have been converted to seal beams.

Grampa was a little slow getting those bumper guards installed.
Surprised the wheels were still 17'' - most cars during that era of use had been changed to 16'' wheels. Seems 17'' & 18'' tires were hard to find & cost too much at the time ...

    Cool car!
Isn't that a '33 grille? It has a thinner chrome surround than '34, and curved grille bars at the bottom peak. Could be the '34 emblem was added to a '33 grille. Judging from the guards on the bumper and the sealed beams, it saw some modification.

Well if my GG Pa was anything like me he couldn't drive without adding a few dings, adding or modifying odd shit to a different year car. Trust me I'm thankful to have the picture of him and his car. I need to take more with mine for future generations. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that would love to go back and take a ride in the old cars with our Grandpa's or GGPa's.

  17. Grille bars are curved because they have taken a hit or two. JW

The headlights look to have had sealed-beam conversions installed.

The good old days with a simple Kodak. A time when people took pictures that meant something and were carefully saved. We thought cameras were great technology in the mid sixties when the Kodak went pocket sized and used a flash cube. Little did we know. :)

Come on people, quit saying it's a 33. That is definitely a 34.

  22. Just one more point to clarify it being a 34 is the width (Side view) of the drivers doors rear upright as seen against the rear window, its very wide unlike a 33, but hey... he may have changed the doors out as well as the grille badge etc etc. JW
