Way back in the day late 70's or early 80's I read an article about a fellow that reduced an AD truck to 2/3rds scale.......must have been in classic truck or some such mag, does anyone remember it and could there possibly be a link somewhere?

Used to see one at NATS North, in Kalamazoo, Mi. It was a very well executed vehicle. Not sure if there's more than one floating around.

I remember seeing it at a KKOA show back in mid - late 80's. It was an impressive piece.

If I remember right the guy applied for a job at the brand new S-10 plant in 82-83 and was rejected so he set out to prove he could build a better mini truck than they could.

  7. LOL I am sure that GM paid attention. :D

I'd like to see it if someone has a pic or two.

There is a guy in my town ( Murfreesboro, TN) that did this to a 48-52 Chevy truck, and helped build the ideas for the s-10. I know he also worked with george barris on the batmobile. If this is the wrong person sorry, also don't know what AD is. Still learning the lingo.

  11. AD = Advanced Design that was what GM called the trucks between '48 and 'early '55.

LOL @Frankie47 you're a little faster on the draw than I am today.

I will try and go by his house and take a picture and you can say yes or no if this was him. Truck is in pieces now and some was sent out for fiberglass molding. This was a few years back when I worked for him. Name is Terry Steagall.

Yep, definitely Terry's truck the op is referring to. Know him real well, and that truck got him a gig at the GM Tech Center here in Warren. He lived in the area for a number of years before going back south. he would stop by my dad's house quite frequently, driving the "little" truck.

His name is Terry Steagall. I talked to him a couple of times , once at York nats east. I remember him saying that he cut the body into 365 pieces , one for each day of the year. It was on a S-10 chassis . The one giveaway was that it only had four grille bars. But if the truck was sitting by itself , you could easily not notice that it had shrunk by 15%. Bill
