Replacing coilovers on a 29 Ford sedan. 200lb spring rate sound about right?

    Thanks. Chris

    Maybe.

Need more info do you carry rear passengers? Fenders? Mounted angle of shocks? What were the old ones? Use them over on the new ones. Shock length?

  7. A model A rear spring will solve this in a hurry, My 29 with a 425 Buick Turbo 400 and Champ Q/C does just fine on an A spring?

Go with the Carrera Coil overs from Speedway, they are made by QA1 and are very reasonably priced. I would go with 200-250 Depending on the Angle you end up mounting them at.

I called QA1 tech, gave them total weight of car (4000 lbs) and my engine (392 Hemi). They recommended 250 rate. I ordered, installed, and completely satisfied. (NOTE, this for front only)

  10. QA1 makes a great progressive rate spring it works great for my p/u and also my buddy's Anglia drag car.

  11. I put Afco coilovers on the rear of my highboy A Tudor, 250 lb springs, because it was to be full fender. I have the battery and 18 gallon fuel tank in the rear.
In my opinion, my rear springs are a little to stiff. I probably need to be at 200 or 225 rating.
