Bought my 62 belair sedan in 1983 for $750 and a tow home. $40,000 later it's looking pretty good for a car worth $25,000.

  5. Our '54 Ford Ranch Wagon has been in the family since it was purchased new at Blue Ridge Motors...That 63 Years.

The folks at EMS liked the wagon enough to use it on their recent catalog, HRP

Was lucky enough to buy this one in August of 1986 while in the midst of the conversion to suicide doors with the front clip in yellow and the rest in primer and no working door windows. I technically drove it home some nearly two hours away with a red clearance light taped as a brake light to the trunk to work as the only working light on the car except gauge lights. That drive home was priceless with my buddy following me in his chopped 46 jailbar pickup loaded with many parts including the new but not installed interior upholstery panels. Plan was to finish and repaint the car over the next year... seven years later I managed to get it mechanically back together and painted, including rebuilding the engine to replace the 12.5 to 1 piston with 10.25 to 1 after I bent 3 rods one day out riding in the country!!
The roundy race car quick change rearend and Vintage Air came a bit later.
Dang interior still ain't finished and the paint could stand a redo!!!
Ahh.. the best laid plans of men... and hot rodders!!:D

  8. I've owned my 34 Victoria project 26 years, bought the 47 club coupe to finish and drive as an interim car in '92, so that's 25 years. The coupe's got 42000 miles on it, an the Victoria, is slowly being dismantled...finally.

Bought my '55 F100 ($60, cash) in 1972, driving it daily for...45 YEARS???

Just went out to jump in and go to 11:00 AM dr. app't. for a cortisone injection in my right knee. (old Catholic injury genuflecting...) Bumper dragged on the driveway, I jumped out and looked...Right front Uniroyal Tiger paw is flat!!!
...And on my Romeo Palisades 2-piece wheel! ...With a brand new Coker tube!
Second time this truck has failed me.. (I told it..."THAT'S TWO...") :p:D

Thanks the gods of the hot rods I am set up to take care of minor (and major) tire woes. ;)

Brian... LOVE that nasty '57!!! I did one up in 'sheep's clothing' for Brian Burnett in '80. Old gal traded it in on a plush Olds, the little '57 was a stick 6. I plugged in a big-inch smallblock, Muncie M21, 9" Ford rear.
Brian left the small tires and original color wheels on it, said it made it look "businesslike".

  14. <<<<<<<< Had this since 1975, 42 years. Hard to believe it's been that long and I'm still playing with it.

My daily is a '84 Monte Carlo SS, bought new. And we still have our '97 Jeep, bought new. I keep stuff forever.

Crap, talk about denial. I had to do the math to convince myself that '75 was 42 years ago. I feel old now thanks.
Cool 57 though. can you mix Geritol with Vodka?

Bought my 55 in 1977 from a guy by the name of Robert Craggs at Courtesy Auto Glass in Lodi. Forty years now...I can't believe it's been this long. I've made a lot of changes over the years, a lot of which I wouldn't do now if I had it to do over, but at least I still have the car. It was navy blue, 327 4 speed when I bought it, the yellow paint job was done in 78.

Jeez, I feel like a piker! My avatar '55 has been here since 2003. I think I'm the 37th owner and #1 through #36 had even less mechanical skills than I do. It has been a project.

Wow, a '57 Fuelie car and a nice '55 masquerading as a '56. Nice that they are still in the family!

My avatar, 51 Ford for more than twenty years. My 1929 cabriolet, I have had for about 58 years. (1959)

  22. More of a "foolie". I added the badges myself after I rebuilt and fuel injected the 350 that was in it.
I have on command instant tire fire and I still get 20mpg.

As far as the half-breed that was the only reason my father bought it.
