I have a 57 Caddy Eldorado - Original Motor is the 365 ci with dual quads (Carter WCFB)
The motor is at the machine shop being rebuilt.

I'm rebuilding the carbs and have been soaking the entire setup (Carbs and intake) in a large vat of Pine Sol & Dawn with a little CLR. The solution really cleaned it up and they look great.

I started the disassembly but separating the 3 main parts:
    Top
    Center
    Base

The top separated from the center section pretty easy, inside everything looked ok but definitely worn and dirty.

The problem I am having is removing the base from the center.
I found and removed 4-5 screws in the bottom of the base that apparently attach it to the center section but it still will not separate!
I looked for other possible screws or fasteners that could still be holding it together but I see nothing.

    What am I missing ?

    Photos ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

There are 6 screws, and 4 dowels alignment pins that might have some corrosion.

Ok, 6 screws all from the bottom of the base of the carb I assume and nothing else.

Should the (4) dowels used for alignment just pull straight out once the 6 screws are removed ?

The corrosion sounds plausible...I'll check it out.

Once the 6 screws are removed, I'll tap on the base while trying to shim it loose from the center section and work the corroded dowels apart.

    Thank You Very Much !

If its the cast iron base, tap on the cast iron not the alum fuel bowl with a soft blow hammer, nothing metal. The pins are around 1/8" dia and maybe .100 tall. Try spraying pb blaster or vinegar.

    Hello,

I do not see 6 screws.
There are only 3 screws on the base, plus a little plug that (once removed) has no screw/fastener below it.

I may be missing a few, but I also do not see any from the top (center section).
    What am I missing.
    Any help appreciated.

You must have the alum base, like some of the Fords. The GM cast iron bases had 6 screws. It must be stuck, looks to me that you have all the fasteners out.
