I thought that was to keep my pony tail from catching on fire.
I was just tack welding.....and the helmet was a wash....the auto darkening quit working.

The swap meet is behind the bleachers on the right side of the track.

  7. While living in California, we could go to the March Meet, or the Hot Rod Reunion. The bummer was, most of the real deal cars, or righteous clones were relegated to the show car section, or as exhibition cars that may get to make a couple runs the whole weekend. Instead, we towed 1965 miles/40 hours to go to our first Meltdown in 2014. We were treated like life long friends made as many passes as we wanted to, and we're surrounded by 1966 again! We spend all year, getting ready for the Meltdown Drags like our dad did getting ready for the original March Meet "Smokers Fuel & Gas Championships" @ Bakersfield in the 60's. As an added bonus, you will get to see an un-blown B/Gas '56 Chevy "Yesterday's Child", stomp the silly putty out of a B/Gas Supercharged '57 Chevy "The Okie Doker"!

I just purchased plane tickets to Chicago Midway Airport, I will be arriving early Friday morning. Could I get some recommendations for motels near the track, and some general idea what the area is like. The only time I have been in Illinois is just to change planes.

Those are WRE, Waterman Racing Engines. Sid Waterman started racing more than 50 years ago, raced Top Fuel for years and built race engines and fuel pumps/systems for nitro cars later branching out into NASCAR camshaft driven pumps mounted at the rear of the engine to lessen the chance of fire in a front impact.

Took the car out for a short rip and a couple of 1-2-3 gear blasts yesterday.
Things are working good.I'm so confident,I'm just going to load it on the trailer and leave it as-is til the Meltdown.
You guys with Superchargers better start working on your list of excuses.

I have a question that I'm sure someone here will know the answer to. I'm running a magneto, how do I run a kill switch for that?

Just a switch to ground from the mag.

Then run it to the outside of the car? I have the old battery kill switch on the back of the car, but that won't stop the mag. Right?

It will have to be a separate switch.
If your battery kill switch is operated by a push pull rod you could mount a micro switch that the rod would make contact with.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a push pull rod so that's one more thing to fix.

When I mounted the kill switch on this car I mounted closer to the battery then used the push off.
So a switch could be mounted so that a micro switch could work with it.

    [QUOTE="Okiedoker,

Ok, so when it comes to the swap meet. There is a set of bleachers about 100 feet or so from the swap meet. It does require going through a section of the pits. There is also a 500 foot long hill next to the bleachers that makes for an awesome spot to watch racing and would make him highly visible to you. Setting up a tent in your swap space should not be an issue (a camper might be), but a tent should be fine.

I was planning on bringing my camper this year with a small trailer for swap meet stuff . If there isn't room thats fine just let me know to save the extra work. Thanks .
This will be my third year, best show on wheels.

    Like Salty Says

Tuning issues sometimes surface when you get on the sticky stuff.

Thought I was ready a couple of weeks ago, it ran good on the road
( two nice long black marks )
At the track the electrical trouble surfaced, popping and missing under
    heavy load.

  27. ...I help run the swapmeet, I don't think you'll have any problems setting up in the swap.
