  1. Thats some times the drag in drag racing. What happened? Does it look fixable for the meltdown?

How bad is it James?Did one of those stock rods let go like you were afraid of a while back,or is it something easier to fix, like a busted rear end,or something like that?
If there's anything we can do,or any parts that need to be rounded up,I'm sure everyone on here would be glad to jump in to help.

    Scott

Scott I had to laugh when you asked... How bad is it...... just made me think of some family asking the doctor in some hospital setting "How bad is it?"

Well James guess you might as well get the olds rear in that thing I'm surprised the ol chevy rear lasted this long lol I've been thinkin though that you should put a Chrysler in it cause Jeff tore up a Pontiac/ olds pretty bad and a 9" ford won't last a second cause Scott destroyed that with a ford motor so we know it wouldn't live a second under the ol 409 lmao what parts do you need I've got a pile of stuff

How much had the Chevy rear end been beefed up? There are bearing cap reinforcement plates that are available, as are aftermarket Posi units, that are stronger than the original Chevy Posi's. The Nitro Posi units are about the strongest.

I bought the bearing cap girdles off of E-b**, but they are not currently listed. Here's some links to the seller's website.

Aftermarket axel shafts are available.....Got mine from Moser.

First time going to this event so I have a NEWB question. Any good Pre-Meltdown festivities that I should be aware of? I will be in town on Thursday and was curious if there were any pre-show hang outs? Any info would be great!

    Hey Fuelatered -

On Thursday night quite a few of the racers drive their cars into town and grab a burger at Sam's Drive In. Sam's is about 1.3 miles from the track and it is cool to see a bunch of open header cars make the drive.

Come Friday, you aren't going to want to leave the track!

Attention racers - we are going to release our official "Know before you go" e-mail to all of the registered racers on Wednesday of this week. This e-mail has LOTS and LOTS of important information. Make sure you read it.

If you don't receive it for some reason, please message me w/ your e-mail address and I will resend it.

New flywheel and scattershield done. Couple quick blips last night. On the oil and chip road no less. Sounds good. Not much traction but feels good. Buddy shot short video but I can't post it. Think I have leaks fixed in trailer. Can I run with my old Lakewood style three point bar?what about engine diapers?

Engine diaper is always a good idea if it is in the budget.
If you think you will or are trying to blow up than yes.....I know shit happens so if it does....get over to the rail.

That's what happened last year with my 55. I was using a spacer ring with my old rear end. Went to a 4 series posi unit, bearing cap girdles and ARP ring gear bolts for a 12 bolt Chevy. This year I'll find out if it was a good idea to stick with the Chevy rear axel. LOL. By the way......Would you be interested in selling the Chevy center section that you're pulling out?

Veteran Meltdown attendee - and my friend - Larry Arnold... Made good on his pre-registration promise to be ready as he lights off the Sheets and Giggles nostalgia altered for the first time. (With help from the lovely Arlene) Larry has been thrashing on this alcohol fueled bad boy for 2+ years with the Meltdown event always being the target. The frame is 100% Larry-built with the trans and diff coming from my brother's shop Pro-Gear Performance Drivetrains and the concrete filled 383 sbc being built by Brazier Race and Machine. Larry kept things as period correct as safety standards would allow. Even the blower is a converted GMC Diesel unit. The combination should be good for 800+ hp and some low 8 second time slips once he sorts it out.

Shakedown passes are planned for July 1 at Interlake Dragway (Gimli Mb). Then it's 14+ hrs to Meltdown.

Should look crazy cool in the same pit area with the Prefect and the Scout. The only thing I hate about this - Larry didn't build the cage wide enough for a short fat guy like me. Might be a good thing...

Yes - it's setting off car alarms

My buddy Lee Bardo did that to his axles last year in his P/O rear that's in his 57 Chevy with a 283 and a 55 pound flywheel.
