  2. Always find shots of subdivision or row housing so interesting. Big window on the left or on the right - that pretty much was the entire option list.

No wonder we Americans went ape-shit over customizing our cars.

Remember, there was a housing shortage after WWII, building materials were hard to come by until later in the 50's when the boom settled down. I can't blame people for wanting to move out of the cities after having been overseas, having been myself, I can see where you just want your own patch somewhere with some elbow room.

  5. "Giant"?

The movie where Burl Ives said the word "mendacity", and as a kid, I just had to go look it up.

  6. I agree. The old man built our first "little house" largely from salvaged pallet lumber & reclaimed cinder block. He was no carpenter - spent a total of 37 years on the line for GM after serving as a Gunnery Master Sarge in WWII. But there was so much pent up demand - especially since we had 10 years of the Great Depression leading into WWII.

I've been building - sometimes large tract projects since about the age of 30. The whole housing dynamic fascinates me.

  7. Well CJ, you were wrong. Burl Ives said that in the movie "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". (just looked it up)

    Jeesh...

Everybody is always so busy looking at Pam's boobs that no one ever noticed what great legs she has. I would love to see her wearing heels. Nice!!!

    Nothing personal whatsoever but............
I'm no prude but we would still be enjoying Pams' stories of her and JJ's drag racing days if there had not been so much crude commentary.

I wasn't being crude. Simply stating a fact. She has great legs.

I think DDDenny was referring to another thread, that got shut down.

  19. Uh, yeah, but you were less than respectful with your boobs comment..Re read what you wrote. " Everybody is always so busy looking at Pam's boobs that no one ever noticed what great legs she has. ...." Not very respectful.Would you say that to her face??I've met Pam at Famosa, she's a classy, interesting woman. She's been in drag racing forever, knows EVERYONE and has a million stories. Would you want someone to talk to or about YOUR wife, sister or mother with the words you chose?
She WAS a member here, but everyone commented endlessly on her body so she left.

  20. I do not recall what year, later 60's. Nothing happened, just older cars moved back to gas classes, (NO setback allowed in MP) The MP classesc were always intended for later models.

My apologies to 56 shoebox, I honestly was not singling him out, I seem to get in trouble when I use the quote button.
I really wish we could talk Pam into being a HAMB member again, as Gary said she has a ton of stories about her drag racing days with Jungle Jim Lieberman.

  22. NEVER going to happen! HAMB'ers blew it big time with her.Pam has lot's going, doesn't need the grief at all.
She has dignity, the 70's are long gone.

  26. Ah, some perspective: No one makes a person dress a certain way.

No one would talk about any of my ex-wives that way or to their face, because they never dressed that way.

    We all make choices.
