Thanks, not too bad a price, considering shopping, looking at various used wheels.I have a question in to Stockton and will wait on them to answer. Summit is about 70 miles from me.

Stockton Wheel has/had a very bad reputation in years past, don't know about now. Jim I guess I'll have to call my possible source back, haven't heard anything from him.

Thanks Dave.just got a price quote from Stockton and I can't afford anything but used. They were twice the price of Summit plus shipping.

The 4" hoop will set you back twice the price of a 5". The explanation is they only make 5" hoops and have to take an inch out to make the 4". All labor.

  13. I guess my problem with dual pattern wheels is cosmetic.
I will only run single pattern wheels.

I've got them on the rear of mine, 15x7s, seem like really nice wheels, felt heavier than stock to me, but I didn't weigh them. The only "bad" thing I found was the valve stem holes needed a little cleaning up, had some burrs. They're Wheel Vintiques.

On my wheels I used 1/2 inch push in plugs from Ace hardware to plug the extra holes. They are zinc plated but polished up real well and only wheels.png wheel.png

Here locally the dual pattern oem style steel wheels are referred to as snow tire wheels by the tire stores. They sell them to the people who want snow tires for winter but don't want to remove their other tires from the rims to put the snow tires on and then swap back in the spring.

Plugs are a cool idea, I guess the snow tire thing is cause these are about the cheapest way to go.

Thanks for all the ideas, pics & feedback looking forward to more, hopefully this thread will go on for a bit even though my fears may have been overcome.

  21. I'd like to know more about the plugs from Ace Hardware.
    What department? Ace part number?
It's a big place, so I need help finding things.
    Thanks.

The Hilman Group makes a lot of that stuff.

  24. Just received my US wheels, smoothies, from Summit, dialed them out before mounting tires, no issues, proudly stamped Made in USA, on sale at Summit

I've used 3 sets of steel wheel from Wheelsmith with no problems.
Buy them at Louisville or Columbus and shipping was free.

As far as where to find the 1/2 inch plugs at Ace go to the nut and junk section. Again these plug are listed as 1/2 in, push in the lug hole and bend over the tabs on the plug. At first glance they will look too small to you but the work just fine. Polish before install and protect them with some wax.

That's where I like to hang out. :D

At first I thought OP was talking about the uni-lug wheels with the wider "slot" bolt holes, not the dual drilled wheels. I'm not a fan (aesthetically) of the slot-style unilugs. Too 80's-cheesyness.
