    Hello,

While filming all of these drag racers at Lions and other So Cal Dragstrips in the early days, I came across a couple of strange builds. This red Altered Coupe looked like it came from one of those Jalopy Derby cars, got spiffed up, and went right to the drags. But, the unsusal thing was: Is that a right side steering mechanism?

The driver was certainly sitting in the middle of the cab.

Despite the writing on the side of the coupe, we do not have any identification of this red Altered. Anyone? Make/Model/Owner/Driver/Motor?

The above red 32 is the way we did in the late 50s and 60s. I will guess the car has center stering and we did whatever our parts made us do.We used a 48 Stude pickup box on a center steer altered with the arm sticking up for left hand steer and ugly as hell, however it worked well. That was 54 years ago and to this day I don,t know why we did not flip the box over and do R. hand steer.

That front axle looks downright scary.

It's a Red Deuce Coupe powered by a Hot Pontiac and built to go fast! Thanks Joey.

Hot Rod drag coupes are the core of racing.
More stories would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Joey.
