    Hey JC,
Yours looks like a 64 in front. It is a very nice one for lasting all of these years. I had a new 65 after selling my 58 Impala. I needed a long distance driver since I had to go to school in Northern Cal. The Impala would have worked, but it could not hold two racing dirt motorcycles in the back. upload_2017-3-24_5-36-48.png
A pure mid 60's look, smooth lines, blackwalls with thin red lines from Inglewood Tire Co. (Pos-A-Traction )and small mini hubcaps. That El Camino gave us 125k miles of fabulous trouble free driving in all kinds of weather and conditions. Check out the thread on the air gauge for the rear shocks. (or PM me)
Your car is a classic and a great trade.

But, be careful, the empty bed in the back with wide tires creates a problem. In the mist or rain the car tends to hydroplane... Just letting off the gas settles it back down for a better grip. Also, check the seal around the under dash air vents. Finally, continually check the rear window under the chrome trim. Most El Caminos tend to rust out here as it is constantly exposed to the weather and the water sits in the lower trim channel.

Just throw some old Ford parts in the back and you'll be fine!

Very nice. Reminds me of my Dad's old ride. They make very cool and useful cruisers.
    Enjoy!

    Gets my vote.
Pretty hard to beat the versatility of an El Camino, from dinner out to camping out even trips to the dump.
My third car, bought it in 73, factory 327, 4 speed, 12 bolt, wish I hadn't sold it!

You are worthy in my book. Sold my '31 Ford roadster and my '48 Ford and got a '64 Chevelle Malibu Station Wagon. More comfort, more room, and easier on the old body. Oh yeah, most important, my wife likes it better, too!

Hey guys, thanks for great responses. Yes, it's a 64 and it's pretty much original. The only non-original parts is the 350/700 combo and the idiot steering column. Has a few typical rust spots in the floor behind the seat, but overall, it's in great shape and drives great.
My plan is just a repaint and new bed trim. The original color was white and it's only been paint once, black. I am not sure if I should keep it black or go back to white.
I am not looking for a show car but justajust a clean coil driver. I want to enjoy it, not hide it

You'd get a headlamp flash and a wave from ME any time, and I'm 'picky'. Oh, I also wave at Rancheros...

I've had a 64, a 66 or two (can't remember) and a 72. Loved them all. Also had a 51 AD. I miss it the most. If you're happy, I'm happy. My 66 was white. That's a seriously underrated color.

    White would look great too.
A set of old style Americans really look good on a black Elky.
Case in point this one belonged to HAMB'r 32 Barn Car.
    Any questions!

  24. I love your ElCamino. They are appreciating at a quick rate now and anyone in the market for one now I feel should pull the trigger.
They've been notches below Chevelle's and Super Sports for years but with the diminishing supply of those and the Chevelle's escalating values the ElCamino is on fire now.
I pulled the trigger on mine 2 1/2 years ago and knew I over paid.
I have no regrets now watching this market moving forward. [IMG]

  25. JC - The '64 ''Chevellelcamino'' is a looker. 2manyprojects - yours is beautiful, the '72 454 El I chase parts in doesn't compare but super fun to drive.

That is defintely worthy and I vote keeping it black when you repaint. Looks good white too just see more of them white or red.

Count me in as a fan. Had a '71 w/LT-1/T400/12bolt. A guy offered me way too much money for it, so...
Either black or white, with a red interior would be a homer on your '64, congrats.

My o/t '68 El Camino joined the family April 4th 1968, when my dad wandered onto the local Chevy dealer and asked "what do you have with a stick?". He bought a broomstick custom 300 with a 307 and 3 speed. He loved the car. When he died in '90 I got it. 3 years ago I let my youngest son drive it. With a little over 500k on the clock, 3 engines and 3 transmissions later, it is due for a full freshening. It has been loved and enjoyed for almost 49 years and ain't going anywhere. My 2 youngest grandsons have eyes for it in the future. So while I like your AD, hang on to the El Camino. With a little love and elbow grease, yours could last forever too!

I bought my 64 in 1990, when I was 16. My son bought his 65 in 2013 just before his 14th birthday.

I guess I kinda like them.
