I really did not need this car but could not pass it up. Now I have 2 Monarchs. Runs great. the engine was installed about 3 years ago the previous owner bought it as a rebuilt, took it to the machine shop for inspection wher it was revealed that it was N.O.S. and not a rebuild currently has about 1000 miles on it. Same previous owner for over 35 years.

Wow!that really cleaned up nicely! The chrome is in really good shape too!

  3. That 4 door is quite the find. It's always great to find a car, such as this, that has aged gracefully ...... with all its parts intact. Nice !

Well now you've got a 2 door AND a 4 door. You don't see many of those in original condition, most have been 2 doored and chopped. Great to see some that the custom guys have missed. Congrats!!

I have not touched it yet, that is how it rolled out of the previous owners garage.

Does that have the same dash as the 49 US Merc ?

Thanks for the posts! I, for one, have NEVER seen a '49 Monarch. Not many around these parts, I reckon.
This part of Calif used to be 'LOUSY' with special interest cars, most per capita in the state! (Merced area)
Either these old farts hereabouts have aged so much they don't take 'em out any more...or they've sold 'em off to out-of-town young whippersnappers!
Thanks for the pics...Also curious about that dash. U.S. Merc or Canadian Monarch type?

I will get a pic of the dash tomorrow, a second dash was also included with full gauges.

  12. Call me ignorant, but I've not seen or heard of em.
    At a guess, I'm thinking it's a Canadian version of a Mercury?

Jeff, I guess you could call them a Canadian version of a Mercury, how ever they were only made and available in Canada. They do share the same body but have different cosmetic changes as you can see. Funny I sold a 50 Monarch Convert. to a Hamber in Australia a few years ago. (another sale I kick my ass for doing). Wow what a great find. It's a perfect stable mate for your 2 door. Imagine if you also still had the Conv.
I love the Canadian versions of 50's-early 60's cars such as the Monarch, Meteor, Acadian. At first glance, my brain always think they're a mild custom or pre production factory prototype.

So the dashes look the same on both sides of the border.

  24. Oh that's sweet. Nice it's survived without being molested (and I'm a custom guy!).

If you ever come across hubcaps like that again, I am looking for a set that say Monarch or with the lions, but Monarch is preferred. Thank you!
