All I know is the driver's name is Andy Botto who raced it around the Nor Cal bay area: Oakland, San Jose etc.

    Thanks, Rootie!
I did some Googling, and according to this article, Botto was in a match race against Johnny Lamonto in 1947 at Allemand Raceway:

I guess I need to pick up the "Roaring Roadsters II" book. It looks like there may be some coverage of Botto in there.

[IMG] The year was 1931; grandma posed dad outside at her parent's small home farm in San Lorenzo, CA. That's her dads 1919 Essex sedan in the background. It kind of reminds me of a scene from the movie "The Grapes of Wrath".

The year was between 1916-1918; happier times. My great grandparents (passenger side front and rear seats.) got together on New Year's Day with their cousins. The old touring is a 1915 Buick. Grandma is the little girl with the long dark curls; who is looking away from the camera. By the end of 1919 three of the young adults in the photo were gone.

The year was probably 1934. The previous year, my grandparents and their cousins, had visited the local Plymouth dealership, and bought three 1933 Plymouths! That winter they followed one another to Yosemite to play in the snow! One of those cars eventually wound up being the car my dad learned to drive in.

I can't help goin' back to this picture and thinkin', how could I hack the Hell outta this thing.[IMG]

  18. Not to be picky, just informative. Those are 1934 Plymouths. They may have been titled as 1933 (year sold) as it was common in those days to title a car as the year sold and not the actual production model year.

Thanks for clarifying; I don't know Plymouths. My 1940 Ford Coupes registration states "39" as the YOM. I was just going by the word of mouth story I was told when I was a kid. They could have bought them in late '33, and drove to Yosemite that winter.
