I'm wanting to use a 350 Turbo transmission behind my 153 Chevy engine, that's going into my 27 RPU...What flex plate do I need to use? Thanks
I believe the PG and 350 Turbo flex plate are the same. The Turbo is a good choice I had a PG behind my 153 in my Willys and felt it would have benefitted from the extra gear. Pat
What flex plate do you have? They both bolt up to the crank the same. You know the TH350 plate will work with the TH350.
Supposedly the 200R4 is more efficient. Less loss of hp - might be more noticeable with a 4 vs an 8. Plus you get OD Sent from my SM-G550T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Most aftermarket flexplates come drilled for two different converter patterns, depending on the trans to be used; stock flexplates usually only have a single pattern that may or may not work. You most likely have the 153 tooth flexplate. If you need a different pattern, just drill your own; the converter centers with the converter bung, not the bolt pattern. Some flexplates also have "oblong" slots for torque converter mounting. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Did your engine come from a car with a manual transmission or a boat? Remove the flywheel if it is on there and replace it with a flexplate.
What starter motor do you have or plan on running? Straight across holes on the starter motor, the 153 tooth flexplate, staggered mounting holes, the 168 tooth flexplate. They both will fit on the crankshaft, and it's the converter "bung" that centers the converter, not the flexplate to converter bolt holes. Most aftermarket provided flexplates do come with two patterns on them. Just DON'T use a flexplate that has any kind of weight on it. If you are starting out with no starter motor and no flexplate, then go with the 153 tooth flexplate and the straight across bolt pattern starter motor. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Looks like a typo in last sentence above.......contradicts earlier statement. Perhaps last sentence should read "......153 tooth flexplate and stater with straight across holes...." Ray
I' e also been sold on the 200-4Runner sapping less hp than any of the other GM autos because of less rotational mass.
