As an avid enthusiast of Mickey Thompson stuff, I have a question for some of you guys who would have been around back in the 50s, 60s and 70s. I've recently acquired an original MT parts catalog from 1965 andhe offered some pretty wild performance parts. My question is...............what MT stuff do YOU have or what have YOU personally seen that was considered really strong performance stuff for its time? Sorry, but I'm not referring to the MT valve covers MT tires, but more like the magnesium and aluminum stuff he sold, like magnesium and aluminum intakes for side draft Weber carbs, magnesium rear ends for 63-67 Corvettes, MT aluminum 327 blocks and aluminum hemi heads for Ford, Pontiac and Chevy.

Tell me whatcha got or saw from back in that era. Also, does anyone know who cast his mag and aluminum parts? There was probably a foundry in or very near Long Beach.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts.[IMG]

This magnesium 427FE blower manifold needs work, only $2.5K

  9. You want to talk about rare...here's a magnesium M/T BOP 3rd member from the funny car cast in 1967 and I will say, the quality of the magnesium is second to none...the magnesium American Racing wheels from '67 have had to be professionally polished TWICE while I've owned them and this piece I had done once and still looks like jewelry...try and find another one, lol! Love it...!

I have a cross ram for a 409 to play with this summer.
I will report back on if it is better or not.

For Christmas, Chick bought me a racing jacket that was worn by Mickey. She got it from Danny and it has cool grease and dirt stains. When I get my office built in the shop I will have it framed and hung with honors.

I had a M/T center section for a Chrysler. It was in my C/D along with drilled axles. Great for 600 HP not so much for 1000 HP. I managed to push the pinion out on the ground. Cajun Nats Circa 1977!

If that has only been polished once, and it hasn't started turning a kind of brown color, and/or it hasn't started feeling kind of gritty or rough to the touch, then it's aluminum. M/T cast center sections out of both materials.

I had the Super Scavenger headers on a 396 back in 69/70. Came painted orange, and had a very unique sound.

Mickey's rods must have been good, Keith Black chose them when he built this 331 Chrysler, for an Injected Nitro Dragster. 2012-11-24 211554.jpg 2012-11-24 211622.jpg

Does anyone recall Sears & Roebuck selling M/T products probably in the late 60's? I believe they even had a special catalog just for those items.
