Art & Inspiration HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS OWN A HOT ROD & A CUSTOM

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Feb 12, 2017.

  1. I have owned a lot of hot rods over the years but never owned or built a custom although I have always likes them they have eluded me.

I always check out the 49 to 51 Ford threads and dream of owning a mild custom.

So who has both Hamb friendly cars in their garage? HRP

I did. Always had anhotroda hotrod, and
Built a full custom 53 Chevy about 10 years back. Sold it a few years ago now.
But did have both for a while.

The 53 was a fun car to build. I really dig doing sheet metal mods/work.

These two share the same filthy floor'd garage with an off topic muscle car, gotta keep a nice mix, no point in too much overlap. Lots of other junk parked elsewhere too but these are the good ones so far. I have a '51 Merc project in the works now that can replace the '52. The T isn't quite done yet, and maybe I'll love it, never had a finished one to drive, but I feel like if I could only have one, I'd pick the customs. They have an extra level of comfort and practicality, and I drive slow anyway.

Have both hot rod and custom although the '49 ford is in full tranformation mode at the moment with a couple of projects creeped in front of it.

  13. Ladyhrp & I have the Ranch Wagon and we really enjoy it but I don't consider it to be a "Custom" just a cool old driver. HRP

  18. Maybe we need a new classification for beautiful works of art like your '36 Ford.

Only my current driver and another in-progress project, maybe in retirement I could build a custom because I've never had one?

  24. I'll admit that I just have my F-100 at the moment but I'm not complaining. I would have a custom but it hasn't gone as planned (turned out it would've been very expensive to build a '49 Lincoln coupe).

  26. Only a hot rod now. But in '63 I built this '59 Bird and had my "other" RPU. The bird was dechromed, scoop molded, hand built tube grill, custom tail lights and an Ak Miller 390 under the hood. Kind of a street custom with a little hot rod influence. ;)

  28. IMG_0444.JPG IMG_0752.JPG Always been a hotrod guy, never messed with customs. Liked looking at them. Decided that I should probably add a custom to the stable. The planets aligned and I had the chance to bring the Merc home, and I jumped at it. Now I just need one of those O/T muscle cars to complete the collection.
