Customs Do both these 40 mercury grills look different

Ones on a survivor mercury , and ones on a 1999 custom mercury
The custom looks more like a 40 ford angle too it

google images show 39 and 40 look like the second picture. Both of mine look like the second one

 

I don't know what Google images is looking at but the top picture (cream colored car) is a 1940 Mercury, the bottom picture (black car) is a 1939 Mercury, at least the grille is.

Interesting they have the bottom car forsale as a 1940 mercury

 

The tan car , has the real '40 Merc
grill in it, notice it has curved end
grill bars at the center. I've owned
several '40 Merc coupes years ago.
The lower picture shows a amature attempt at creating a replacement.
