Transistors were just becoming available then. I'm impressed someone was thinking of using them for ignition that early.

i cleaned out a garage for a developer who had purchased the house cheap from the estate. i pulled a truck load of junk out including a weird gm distributor. it looked like a regular point distributor on the out side but an hei on the inside. we ran the numbers and it was from a 64[?] corvette
Electronic ignition was an option on Corvettes at that time. But the first to offer electronic ignition from the factory was Avanti in 1961 or 62.
