I have a Ford 9" big bearings housing with Mustang 8" drive shafts. Where can I find the oil seals? For this mix-axle? The 9" has the national51098 seals, and the 8" runs national51322 seals. But I need the 9" outer dimension and the 8" inner dimension.......... Any partnumber? The axle is 1,377" and the housing is 2,500". Also, Where to buy just the pressrings for the axle shafts? Inner diameter 1,377". //best regards, Roger .
It is never to late to give up......... But, not at the moment. There must be thousands of this mix axles out there??
can you look at the seal thats currently in there and maybe find a tiny number on it? and if its something that you dont have and are putting together, what makes you think the odd animal exists?
there are thousands of ford 9" and ford 8" differentials out there, honestly I dont know of anyone that just wouldnt use the ford 9 axles in the ford 9 housing.
I think the big bearing housing uses a larger bearing than 2.5". In fact....doesn't the small bearing use a larger bearing than 2.5" as well? I'm gonna do a quick search and see what I come up with.... Ok...did a quick search. small bearing...shared by 8" and 9" small bearing housings. # RW207CCRA (specs: 1.378" I.D., 2.8246" O.D. by 0.8449" width Large bearing...used in big bearing 9" cars etc... # 88128-RA (specs: 1.5312" I.D., 3.1496" O.D. Heavier duty bearing used in later pickups and the largest cars... # A20 (specs. 1.530" I.D., 3.1530" O.D Found this info on "Kevins Stangs" with a Google search.
This axle came with the car, and the seals in it is Nas51098, to big for the axle diameter. the oil seal I want to have need to fit, Where it comes from doesnt matter....a tractor, truck another car......must be millions different oil seal made? Just need someone who knows which. //Roger .
Hi! Yes, you are right there, the bearing is 3.150" outer diameter, but the oil seal ring is smaller. //Roger.
Just found that Yukon sells these bearings, to use the small 9" axles in big housings # YB F9-CONV, but couldnt find the oil seals...... If Yukon made these, there must be a market for them?? // Roger .
I think you should contact them. I remember some while ago reading about a special seal that can easily be installed into the axle tube BEFORE the gear housing is put in place. It seals on the inner part of the axle near the spline area. The bearings are sealed units that are pre-greased so they don't need gear oil anyway. It's always possible that the bearings from Yukon have a built in oil seal already!
I narrowed a 57 ford housing to use mavrick axels. No problem, The bearing and seal fit fine . The marvick splines fit the nine inch center section. Ended up with a 56 inch wide rearend.
9 inch small bearing and 8 inch take the same seal and bearing,I have a 60s 9 inch small bearing axle in a 76 Maverick 8 inch.
Correct 8 and 9 inch small bearing are the same . Not sure what you have but should be on the shelf replacement seals Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
He is putting small bearing axles in a big bearing housing. A different configuration than the factory put together.
Yes. Found three different Ford styles, but no ones fits my application. Nas51098= right outer diameter.(big axle, big housing) Nas51322= right inner diameter. Nas9569s= right inner diameter. I'm keep searching.......
You're wasting time. You need to either replace the housing ends with small bearing ends or take both the big and small bearing seals to a bearing supply company and see if they can find something in the proper inner/outer diameter. A friend of mine was dirt-racing a Chevelle, every few races he'd have to replace the right rear wheel bearing as it was being destroyed by the load. While he was at the bearing supplier (cheaper than buying from a parts store) he asked the guy behind the counter if there was a stouter bearing available the clerk finding a heavier-duty bearing almost twice as wide, problem solved.
I would contact axle housing supplier such as Moser , and talk to someone that can help . I'm sure there is a bearing to deal with this problem . If I remember correctly Moser bearings have an oring on od of bearing so no seal is required Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
BCA Bearing #511004 , SKF Bearing # 232-R try one of these and see if that is any help . Seal should be easy with online catalog Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
National 307F bearing, SKF 13856 seal , looks as this may fix you up also Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
