I'm not sure where to put this thread ryan. But I felt the pictures would be more appropriate here. This will be a huge thread I hope to be adding to threw out the years. It'll contain all I do automotive related, cause I only work on old cars. I been doing this for close to 10 years, and I've learned a lot of tricks, and hurt myself alot in the process. Everyday I learn something new. I don't consider myself anything. This is just something that calms me down. And I enjoy the challenges. I do everything. Engine work, glass, electrical, upholstery, body work, fab, paint, suspension. I may not have the appropriate tools for the job. But I find a way.

1953 Chrysler new yorker 2 door no post, 331 hemi 2 speed hydromatic. My broinlaws car, has been in family longer than me lol. It's getting mild custom treatment. Then bagged, have not decided exactly what direction to take the hemi. But money is no option for him. So the possibilities are endless.

Rocker is what I'm doing now, not done yet. I'll post more of its completion over next couple days.

  8. Is it getting paint after the repairs?
Car looks to be nice, apart from a little red cancer.

The primer luckily is close to the color of the car, so what I'm do is make a custom batch of semi flat single stage that matches the car and blend the repaired areas into the rest of car.

The patina on the car is perfect. As in the paint aged beautifully. No oxidation, a bit of rot lol.

I just logged out, when I logged back in it said my thread was deleted. Maybe it was the negative responses i was getting from just an introduction. Oh and i'm white, my inlaws latin. So I decided to post a slice of what I do.

I'll add pics of the Chrysler as I go.

Next up is the build of my wifes trokita.

1963 dodge d100 shortbed. It's been around since 2006 , was just another of my inlaws toys .then it was a high school graduation present from her dad. Had the slant 6 /3 on tree. But she couldn't handle the three on tree, she was in a bad 9 car accident when she was 17 on 91 frwy. So she's a Lil shook up still. So in 2011 she got it, drove it for a day or so, then he tried to switch it to floor shift. And it never got finished.

Today it's being resurrected by me. Pulled the slant by myself, the donor is a o/t 70s dodge 360 V8 and automatic.

Funny the slant six stock motor mount plates and the new motors plate lined up first try. So it's bolted in up front. Out back. ...

The issue I ran into is that the transmission mount for the slant six is also a supportive system for the front suspension. So stepped back. Decided next thing is to cut it out, and box that part of frame where the springs mounts. And the new transmission crossmember is only 12" farther back so it will still once all done be supported to the chassis... so now the work has stopped, cause I'm waiting on a hook up I have at a local steel shop ( I raid the scrap bin for all my materials ) I goto junkyard for any parts I need and I build on the concrete.

The next motor build... 331 hemi question. What automatic transmission should I be looking for to bolt up to the hemi. Has it been done before by someone with details? Only thing I'm guessing is 60s dodge automatic. But out of what. Truck , car is there a difference etc.

  22. Invisiblekid...This guy filled out a profile page with many claims.when I questioned him he told me that he was a bad ass Mexican,,,He has deleted his profile page now,,,he stated that he was 25 years old,,therefore I told him to keep on posting but he needs to earn the "Mister" title.

  23. 10-4. The MR. title is earned, not self proclaimed. I was going off the racial remarks as to who/what /where.......... if it can't be=I'm a car guy, and my color/creed is to be noted, then count my (insert color) here- A$$ OUT.
let's keep this in bounds, and you keep on keeping on!-Kid

Today got a whole floor off a 4 door Plymouth at junkyard. I needed those trim mounts. And might as well use the whole thing. Good to have , could be new rockers for something else, lol. Also found the trim too. Time to weld grind weld grind

Idk if you guys know the really rarity that this car is. 2 door no post , Chrysler Newport with 331 hemi. Most of these were raped fir the hemi in the early days and forgotten. This car resembles a 53-54 chevy but is twice as big. Big enough to confuse people into thinking it's a caddie. But one thing I noticed, man they went overboard on the do dads. 4 bumperets, crazy amount of chrome, very flashy n busy. My job is to clean it up. Hell if it was mine I'd go a different direction. But happy customer =good business.

Goal: clean it up, repair rust, now it's gunna get a bottom half paint job. He wants to keep the perfect top the way it is and either paint the bottom flat black or a mix of root beer candy. I say the root beer will be best , cause it would be hard to tell what's been done. Of course the hemi will get stroked, 6 pack, either a tremec or auto and fully bagged of course on classic gangster wwws with either the Sombreros he has or the stock caps. Rims will be painted Chrysler salmon color to match engine.... man this cars gunna be bad A$$. So far 17 days into it. I'm keep plugging away.

    Wish me luck. Mr.hayes
