Hot Rods Info Needed on 66-67 SBC (Chevy II) 283.... 3862194 Block Code

DDDenny is right, advertise it a bit, Chevy II guys are REALLY on the hunt for these blocks, and they are pretty scarce now.
Him and I both own '66/'67 chevy II's and travel in those circles. Try advertising it on Steves Nova forum, bet you will be over-run with potential buyers.

Not quite I guess... Backyard wrenching...... 3/4 cold rolled/rosebud/jig/ and made it drop about an inch,and angled an inch. Melted it in w/ gusseting, and the inner rod ends cleared the pan at full lock. Just enough to solve the oiling woes with the pan/oiling issues I mentioned. Seen some really gaudy attempts, but this worked out very clean and nice.
Fords have the same issue...Type 2 suspension (old lingo)...
Now if you add a clip in front,all those worries go away,and it's not even thought of these days.....

 

Well, being in New Brunswick, Canada.........I would think shipping that block becomes a real problem.

 

Everything worked well with all the work we did. I missed taking the pump final pictures, but the one attached here shows where else the material was in the way. Easy set up, pump in a vise on the Bridgeport, used a 90* countersink, had it in & out about 4 times. Cast iron cuts very easily.

 

I am too hectic tonight, but I will dig some info up on it and pm you early next week. Its SLICK. Ralph was nobodies fool, smart guy.

Judy had the Duster at Mission for the WDRS within a couple weeks of this photo. Man, I was like 14 or 15, that was a BIG deal.

 

FWIW, I have a late 1963 "721" 283 Nova block (standard bore). I would actually trade it for a "real" 62-70 Chevy II/Nova 153 4 cylinder car engine.

 

If you see a 54-56 Ford with a SBC under the hood I'll bet you will see a Chevy ll pan in it.
