    I need a little Mopar help .My daughter wants a hood scoop (like a six pack scoop) on her dart. What scoop would be period correct?

  8. Unfortunately the six-pack hood scoop is a few years too new as the six-pack engine and corresponding scoop came out in mid-1969. Did she ever consider a Max-Wedge or race-hemi type of scoop? Googling them will yield tons of pictures from all angles.

    Trying to get a couple new cars built to bring this year. A pair of black '57 Chevy 150's. The one with aluminum slots is going to be ran in the Hotrod class with a small block. The other shell is going to be sat on the straight axle frame that is under the '56 and get my big block out of my bracket car. If I am build it close to that same weight as my current car it should run high 10's. I have a build thread for the gasser here on the HAMB.

    Thanks for the help guys, feeling better about these results.:)

    Compression /Leak down test #2 ( Better Method Better Results )

    1st Warmed up the engine to operating temp.

    2nd Started leak down test as soon as the header temp cooled to pull a plug.

    3rd Not stopping untill done. ( not even for a sip ) :rolleyes:

    4 th Bleeding off the compressor every cylinder to keep consistent p.s.i. ( Brian recommended )

    5th Compression test after leak down test so your not cooling the pistons by sucking in cool

    air by spinning over motor with no plugs.:oops:

    Compression / Leak down

    1 = 190 11%
    2 = 180 22%
    3 = 180 19%
    4 = 175 22%
    5 = 180 16%
    6 = 185 19%
    7 = 195 22%
    8 = 180 21%

    It is what it is. :oops:

    This engine is filled with hard block to the bottom of the water pump, when it was time to assemble

    put in a lot of ring gap. ( Hard blocked engine oil temps get high ) didn't want gaps to butt.

    You need to tell her that you have not been racing slant six's yet.

    Yes that was my car and yes it actually had a hole and yes it had a slant six for a minute then it had a 273 with a 4-speed then added a turbo then a 440 auto then back to a 4-speed it was a fun car and real dependable I put 40,000 miles on that car drive it to work almost everyday and when I sold it I spent all that money and then a lot more to get the willys running lol

    Yup past the rings, suspect it was always that way , had a camera down every cylinder this spring and

    all the cylinder walls looked good, car ran ok at Meltdown drags.

    Better air at Rock Falls Fall Out, but it didn't pull hard ( no misses and sounded good )

    Tomorrow I will do the Barry Grant 1 gal fuel test, maybe the fuel filters are restricting flow?:oops:

  30. I will send you a copy of the article I got at pri. im sending out some copies to others. pm me your address. those numbers while better still suck. too much ring gap is the number one cause of poor leak downs. you are leaving a lot of power on the table with those numbers.
