found this while helping a friend clean out a barn. appears to be used to grease the annoying "nozzle" style grease fittings. the odd thing is why does, the screw have to be removed? it slides out of the slot at the bottom, so it needs to be closed to get it together. any body ever use one? when would it be handy?
Interesting tool. My guess would be its from the early 30's. That bayonet Alemite fitting on the end was popular about that time.
hah, i don't think i ever had a chevy with those dopey grease fittings. the next model A that comes in i will try it.
You might have to take it apart to get it on some fittings depending on location. I think that tool is used to get grease into zerk style fittings (no ball, straight) when you can't get grease in them. The grease gun locks on the fitting (alemite?) so you can get more pressure without popping off. Before modern ball style fittings.
My guess is that it is an installation and removal tool for some type of grease fitting. You turn it end for end depending on what you are trying to do, push or pull.
it would probably work to install them, but i think the prime use is to hold it tight for stuck or clogged fittings. i look forward to using it.
