Just wondering if anyone has experience of going the dropped axle route on a 54 chevy truck and what the implications are for modification of the steering arms etc. Many thanks Rob.

Along with dropping your axle Sid will drop/modify your steering arms or has axles and steering arms for sale with a core charge attached.

Mustang 11 or similar will give you much better performance and ride.

I am just finishing putting on Sids 3 inch drop in my 50 chevy. I too had all the links worked and now have all modern tie rods and a adjustable drag link.

Sid is simply fantastic. In retrospect I wish I had asked Sid if he could bend/adjust my arms to gain greater tie rod clearance. I bet he could do this easily. Instead I fashioned two one piece steel spacers, and replaced the backing plate lower bolts with longer ones resulting in nearly a half inch of gained space.

I highly recommend Sid......If your dropping your truck and don't want to go the mustang II route this is the best way to due it right.

  9. I got the complete 4 inch kit, with steering arm, modern tie rods and drag link, new king pins, everything needed to swap out every thing on the front end. I couldnt be happier.
