Interesting and fitting way to have final services. A friends son, David, passed of cancer at age 35, he was a car guy (and blamed me for his "disease"). He had a very nice 70 Challenger that he worked on in my garage toward the end of his life, had a myriad of problems with the engine, and he asked that some of his ashes be dumped in the carburetor after he was gone. His sister, brother and friends drove the Challenger as close to his grave as they could , dribbled some ashes in as the motor was revved up. I think of David often.

Fastest and funnest funeral I have seen. We pastors sometimes talk amongst ourselves about "putting the fun in funeral." Larry has done just that. Thanks for doing and sharing that, guys.

  12. It was the added weight. Larry was not a thin man.;)

Sometimes it is not ET it is how well executed the run was. From where I am sitting and I think I can speak for everyone here, that was a very well executed run.

Godspeed, Larry...and, as for your sendoff, well... 'Chute!'

Can't recall whose ashes it was that got poured down the intake of the Stone, Woods, and Cook Willys in '84 at Fremont ("Baylands") right at the foot of the tower. A bit 'irreverent', but very classy.

You never hear about how much money a guy had when he passed as it is irrelevant at that point. Judging by the amazing number and character of the friends he left however, Larry was a rich man.

  18. Very fitting. Never met him, but will miss him.
Last week, when I drove down to try and catch Squirrel on Day 3 of Drag Week, another too-soon gone racer's ashes were spread at the top end. Very emotional, but deserving.

    Godspeed.

That was AWESOME! I'm sitting here with a smile on my face and in my heart. I think Larry would be well pleased with such a relevant and creative way of sending him off and I think it really speaks well of all of his friends and this hobby that he loved so much.

Godspeed Larry! I look forward to meeting you on the other side brother.
