I know this isn't a drag car....YET...but, I saw this Comet sitting in a field years ago, and stopped by every year or so to ask the old fella if he would sell it, he never would, well I stopped one day and he sadly had passed away. His daughter knew I had wanted the car and she sold it to me. I really didn't know that they are as cool ass you guys have made yours!! It is a 404 completely stock with the original straight six, auto on the column, everything is there but I don't have the time to get her rolling yet. But this thread has given me some inspiration!!! Some dam nice looking cars, those Comets are!! photo 2.JPG photo 1.JPG

  21. That is some cool history, really like that piston trophy.
Here is a vid of me racing. We ran our yearly event on the street this year. 1/8 instead of 1/4. Shutdown the main street for 3 days.

  22. Ok....always been more of a
Kustom guy...but love 64-65 Comets...anyway I have a nice old 66 F100 and somebody overheard us talking about it and he started asking about a trade for a 64 202 comet with a 68 302 and a 4 speed...ok I'm thinking super stock or junior stock looking car here we come. I'll post the pics..car is solid, motors fresh, needs interior, can't stand the front modern 5 spokes. But I envisioned better 4.5 wide front rims, 6" cheater slicks, thunderbolt hood, and the front end raised up a little bit. The bad...the old dude paints everything in house paint...and he wants 4K on top of my truck which means I would have 12k into this car. Which is what he claims it's worth? Seems way high to me and he's not budging..look at the pics and give me some feedback. Very bummed we couldn't reach and agreement...already ordered up my stock book from Amazon and have this thread bookmarked

12K plus your truck?NO!!!!All that house paint would need to come off,whe knows what is hiding under it?!64 Comets have terrible wiring, even if converted to an alternator!Needs an interior,a lot of $ to replace, plus how solid are the floors/! Is/was it an original V-8 car?If not,how did he replace everything to 5 lug bolt pattern? JMO,ROY.

  24. 12k for a sedan, not even a hardtop, that's waay to high. I wouldn't pay over 5k

  25. Guys thanks he values the car at 12k. It has Granada spindles and disk brakes. A fresh 9" with a posi unit. It has been re wired. No carpet , has door panels. Front floors have been nicely repaired. I love the car just not enough to pay his asking price of 4K plus my truck...now I'm searching CL for something nice..love these cars...

Way to keep a kool head. He will still have it in 5 years. Then jump on it for 3-5k cash.

  28. Thanks..my truck came from Sacramento..original paint..one of the most solid, untouched trucks I've seen....great for swap meets, hauling stuff to the dump...But now I'm jonesing for one of these comets...

  29. Yeah, 5k would be tops in my book, would have to run like a stripped assed ape though. Picked up a 65 202 two door sedan last moth for 500, they're out there and cheap.

  30. Yeah it's a rebuilt 68 302 with an edlebrock intake and a 500 cfm carb, no headers, little bit of a cam, but has 200 miles on it. It's got some great points, but not 12k....problem is owner thinks it is....and now my car ocd has locked on to 64/65 comets haha....
