I haven't posted anything in a long time, as I've been building a real crazy, very modern custom car, and just finishing details on another long term project, a mild 61 Olds custom. But I've been filling in with some restorative work on a 63 Caddy for a friend and fellow HAMBer, Joe Manna. Plans are to do it as a mild custom, so he can haul the family around. Besides a few custom mods, we decided to go all out on the roof of the car. Joe let me do my thing without any suggestions, so here it is: Body will be a satin finish Plum Crazy. All done with HOK materials, custom blended using Wh ite Pearl, Purple and deep purple pearl, Blue and hot pink pearl, and Lazuli Blue flip flop, Abalone flake, and Candy purple concentrate.
The 61 Olds has to get it's trunk upholstered before I shoot the rest of the body. Candy Pagan Gold. I made a square tube grill for it, with matching grill pieces in the rear, with Lucas headlights, and I made tail light lenses that look like the Lucas' for the rear. Hand made scoops on the hood. A custom made console. Other than that, just the usual mild custom treatments. Nicely detailed engine compartment, as I really like to do!
I know this doesn't fit in, but also transforming a 2014 Malibu into a pseudo Aston Martin. Lots of very involved metal work here, though not really for this forum.
Hammerform, my friend! Oak, and I even sanded the part of the form that went against the hood, to match the slight contour that the hood had. Kept it all in line.
Wow the metal work on that Astobu is insane, you're very talented. Come to Tennessee and paint the roof on my 63 Catalina
Impressive work, but it that really going to cost the owner less than a used Aston? The depreciation on those things is breathtaking.
Yes, he knows! But he's just like us customizers/restorers/ hot rodders. Spend 3 times what the car is worth in the end, to fix it up to our liking.
